Usually paint codes are located in the driver side door jamb.
However a paint code is not always that easy to find. Sometimes
places to find them include the glove box, under hood, in the
trunk and under the spare tire cover. Many codes combine both
numbers and letters. Look at a map of cars with vehicle specific
paint code locations.
Toyota and Lexus color codes generally start with the prefix
"C/TR" and the code will be three digits long, followed by more
info.
Ex. CTR202/LA09. 202 will be the color code. Your location
will always be in the drivers door jamb.
GM, Chevy, Cadillac, GMC, Geo, Saturn, Pontiac and any other
General Motors usually have a prefix of "WA", "BC/CC", or
"U" and are four digits long. Also 2-3 digit number called a
secondary number may accompany this one. May look like this
WA8524 52U. Paint code locations will vary.
Ford has two letters or a letter and a number located in the
door jamb. Sometimes on an older vehicle or a specialty vehicle
a much longer code will be displayed.
Dodge often has three digits and often starts with a P or Q.
Honda and Acura's location is always in the door jamb and
usually a little long: containing letters, numbers, and dashes,
so make sure you will have a pen ready. At the end of the code,
sometimes you will see a" -1,-2,-3,or a -4" that
particular -number display the plant the vehicle was painted at. |
