I failed to pull my new car far enough away from the garage door as it was closing and it just caught the back bumper on its way down, scraping paint off a sizeable portion. I was more than mildly crushed (I'm giving you the clean version). So, noticing it was a paint scrape and not a dent, I had it appraised by a trusted collision center...$425 "to do it right." Plan B; try fixing it yourself. After researching the web for proper methods of self repair, I began looking for suitable paint. I had previous experience with touch up paint on another car using the brush method...too globby and hard to control paint application. So, decided to use a paint pen. Great decision. Perfect color match and precise paint application, especially with all the dings, large and small, caused by roadway debris. I honed my paint pen skill on them as a foundation for building confidence to tackle the dreaded rear bumper fiasco. I didn't read, but figured out that I needed to constantly shake the pen to keep the paint free flowing through the applicator. After the first coat I was "cautiously optimistic" as would describe a patient whose health could go either way. I walked away to give myself some space while it dried. After about 30 minutes I returned, and to my amazement, you could barely make out the scrape. My prognosis, and emotional state, quickly escalated. Repeat procedure...then give it the acid test...my wife. She couldn't believe her eyes. In just a matter of a few short days from defacing my beautiful car to receiving the paint pen, I went from OMG (goat) to OMG (hero) and a big "thank you, Lord." And thank you too, Automotive Touchup. Great product, goes a long way (still have more in the cylinder), received it quickly, was worth at least $425, but only paid $19.60. The patient is alive and well.
