To ensure your paint repair blends in perfectly, you'll need to apply a clear coat over the color coat. While AutomotiveTouchup paint products are custom mixed to perfectly match the color of your 1983 Mercedes-Benz C Class, we use the same basecoat/clearcoat system as your factory specs. You can add a clear coat to your order on the next step. The code on your identificaiton sticker will normally have many numbers in it with no prefix identifying a number as a paint code. The rust-through on my blue-green 380SL was hidden by the trim piece way down along the rocker panel. When I took off the trim piece, there was quite a large section, about 2 X 6, pretty much rotted. I trimmed out the rust, used some backing, then filled with common Bondo. I used your sandable undercoat, base coat, and clearcoat, according to directions. I have to say that the job I did with your products was every bit as good as a professional job, and probably better, because I took my time and obtained a glass-smooth finish, absolutely perfectly matched. Thank you for a wonderful product for less than $50.00. No polishing required!
