Why The Two-Step Paint System?

Your 2006 Mercury Cougar is painted at the factory with a high quality basecoat/clearcoat system. This two-step paint system consists of step one, the basecoat, which is your car’s actual color, and step two, the clearcoat, the specially formulated clear paint that protects the base color and provides the luster and deep shine your vehicle came with when new. AutomotiveTouchup products faithfully reproduce your vehicle manufacturer’s basecoat/clearcoat system.

Here's what our customers are saying about our Touch Up Paint:

Jason T, owner of a 2006 Mercury Milan from Linden, MI

We purchased a used 2006 Mercury Milan as a surprise birthday gift for mom's birthday this year. The front bumper had some damage to the plastic, so we ground and filled until it was the correct contour. Automotive Touchup blended a perfect-match of aerosol paint and clearcoat, which we used to re-paint the bumper. After a few coats of the base color, followed by two coats of the clearcoat the next day, we waited a week before machine-polishing the repaint using Griot's system; the results were great. The paint blended in very well. Good quality stuff.

Andrew S, owner of a 2005 Mercury Montego from Raleigh, NC

The base coat and clear coat look great. I had some deep scratches in the corner of the rear bumper from an inattentive driveway departure. I filled the gouges with the Bondo 2-in-1 syringe product, sanded the area, put on a couple of coats of primer, and put on successive coats of basecoat, sanding as needed. Clearcoat is now on and matches the rest of the car great. You can't tell that there was damage when looking at the car from 5 feet away. I just wish I had worked the primer better; there are some miniscule scratches from sanding that you can see close-up!
