CLEAR COAT IS REQUIRED WITH THIS PAINT

To ensure your paint repair blends in perfectly, you'll need to apply a clear coat over the color coat. While AutomotiveTouchup paint products are custom mixed to perfectly match the color of your 1950 Volkswagen (All Models), we use the same basecoat/clearcoat system as your factory specs. You can add a clear coat to your order on the next step. The paint code is normally located in the back compartment panel in the trunk. Why The Two-Step Paint System?

Your 1950 Volkswagen (All Models) is painted at the factory with a high quality basecoat/clearcoat system. This two-step paint system consists of step one, the basecoat, which is your car’s actual color, and step two, the clearcoat, the specially formulated clear paint that protects the base color and provides the luster and deep shine your vehicle came with when new. AutomotiveTouchup products faithfully reproduce your vehicle manufacturer’s basecoat/clearcoat system.

Here's what our customers are saying about our Touch Up Paint:

Laurance S, owner of a 1964 Volkswagen from Oklahoma

Worked great. Matched well.

John W, owner of a 1964 Volkswagen from Muskego, WI

Good match. I like the wide spray pattern. I was surprised to see that this was a base coat paint. I have to find a way to put some shine on it. If I use clear coat, it will be too glossy. I must have misread the web page. For now, the car looks much better. 1964 VW Beetle Sea Blue John W.

ALWAYS STOCK -BOOBBY CA, owner of a 1964 Volkswagen from San Francisco CA

I bought 2 cans of mfg #’d paint. It was a dead ringer on my 64 VW BUG. Thick, smooth and like glass. 4 coats on my deck lid and my baby was back to beautiful. It looks like the paint is an inch thick and can almost use the gloss to pop a pimple ( 😆away from the paint). It cleans up easy. Make sure you throw 2-3 quick shots of spray with can UPSIDE DOWN before you cap it for the day. It will keep your lines clear in case your project is being painted in your spare time. Since it did so well, I bought 3 more cans. If someone else scratches my baby again - sssspt ssssspt (noise of spray can being used) it’s all good.
